To Arctic Mum on her 38th Birthday

Two years to the big four o. Anyone who's got experience with it? (Vintage souvenir platter from local op shop with original price tag. An evidence that our people have traveled)

Kaylovesvintage sent me a huge parcel that arrived on my birthday, all kinds of goodies included these vintage objects! It made me smile all day.

Gave myself a pair of wrist worms since I'm a big girl with my own money. They'll get me through the winter that's close (help!)

Treated myself to a haircut on my birthday too: I like it short short.

I love your blog. Happy Birthday! I just turned 40 in August and it is not so bad. I am also a Norwegian girl but don't know what it is like to live anywhere other than the US. I really want to visit Norway someday and see where all my ancestors came from. Let me know if you ever want anything special from the US. I would love to send them. I also love anything vintage especially linens.
Best wishes- Anne from Michigan

Cute Haircut! Happy Birthday. I just turned 39 on Friday. So I have now less than a year to 40. Ugh! I am going to pretend that I am 25. I liked 25.

I finelly found your blog. I simply love your pictures and brigth colours.
Høsten har gitt seg til kjenne her i Trøndelag. Tenker på deg og ditt grønne teppe;).Sikkert herlig å krype under når høststormen herjer som verst... Nyt høsten og dens uforutsigbarhet - ENJOY!

Maybe its a 40 year old thing - I actually 'shaved' my head for my 40th (it was our "Shave for a Cure" campaign run by the Australian Cancer Council each year)....well - I didn't completely shave it all but really really really really short.

4 years on...it grew back and I don't mind saying that I'm a 44 year old....

Happy birthday! Love your hair and I've also just cut mine (almost as short as yours :))
And I love that travel-evidence. Nice to have when the nordic winter seems claustrophobic ;)

I have hand-crocheted lace JUST like that...one of my aunts made it over 70 years ago....what to do with it (it used to decorate pillow covers)?

BTW my 40s was my FAVOURITE decade: I felt like an adult for the first time in my life! Followed my crazy dreams & had lots & lots of fun...

so HAPPY B'DAY!!

in south of france, the local language is occitan and we say "polit anniversari" for the birthday.
i'm not far on the other side of big four 0, and i don't like it. not at all, but i think it's because i took a lot of time to make a lot of thingd (for example children , i had at 32 and 36) and life seems to run since a few years.
it was alreasy running, but i couldn't see it. or i didn(t want.
but it's still great to be on earth aftr 40!
as usual, sorry for my poor english!

zelapin, i think it is hard until you finally accept it and forget about it. we can still be beautiful no matter what our age. it is more challenging, of course. i enjoy being a little rebellious about my age in how i dress. i get stared at for my long hair and styles--it used to affect me but now i am like what are you looking at, this is me, this is who i am. is that your business? and believe me i am quite conservative but i refuse to wear the uniform.

Hope you had a happy birthday! I am just back from a week in Venice and Milan so I apologise for being late with the good wishes.

I was 40 last November - it's fine - easy in fact...now before I am 50 - my plan - to at least find a man.....;o)Surely it can't be that difficult - I mean 50% or so of the population fall into that category....any suggestions there?

Happy birthday! I like the idea of a birthday haircut, a fresh look is a good way to start a new year.

Di, I am over 50 and married 30 years and I have multiple signs of interest, all rebuffed, of course. So don't despair!
