That's walking my daughter to school. It takes ten minutes, hand in hand. The walk goes through a forest path and along the pond, and we talk about different things. Like the letter A.
The one that's not walking takes second daughter to daycare by car, while third daughter cries in the back. She's not happy to be woken up for this. Afterwards we meet up halvway and I drive Arctic Dad to work.
The logistics. The magic word for people with children. How do you sort out yours?
Congratulations to giveaway winners Heather Joy and Crista!

Thankfully all mine leave at different times. Plus we have a school bus system for the older boys. Only the 4 year old needs to be driven to preschool. Mornings baby girl is awake, but I hate afternoons when I have to pick up 4 year old cause I always have to wake her up. Wish we could walk. That is one thing I miss about our life in Switzerland. The school was right behind our apartment and the kindergarten was only 2 blocks down the street. Miss even more the grocery store outside our door. I hope we are just as lucky this summer when we go to Germany for the whole summer.
The million-dollar question! Just this morning I was trying to figure out how to nurse the newborn, snuggle with another and help the eldest get ready for school. Usually my husband drives our eldest to school and then I walk the middle two to their pre-school while pushing the youngest. But every day brings a new wrinkle so really it's almost impossible to stick to a schedule. I really think the hardest part about having more than one child ... and especially more than two children ... is dividing one's time ...
My kids are much older now. But I remember that as long as we were two for two kids, things were easy. But when the third one arrived,..And it will be more and more complicated when they'll be old enough to go to different schools all over the city. I wish you patience and courage! :o)
It is so lovely to cherish the simple things in life...like a walk to school....these moments are precious... & in the midst of all the "logistics", it can sometimes be hard to remember to enjoy them. I love this blog because you seem to always do just that!
As a stay-at-home mum with just one child on my hands and some proofreading in the evenings I guess I live a kind of luxurious life right now where I don't have to think too much about logistics! Hopefully that will change in the not too distant future... ;-) :-) Nice post!
It's great that you have some time together in the fresh air just chatting - happens so rarely these days. It will be a well remembered time by your daughter I am sure!
that sounds like a really great logistic plan. i guess until the weather starts to go really sour? will you guys keep walking then? i like that you get to walk hand in hand and talk about A.
Heather , yes - from January to March our walking path is turned in to a cross country skiing slope. Unless we want to ski to school (we may do just that), we'll have to drive. Skiiers get very angry at people walking on the slope: Skiier against Man, and Man seems to loose. No wonder there are wars in the world.
I homeschooled! ;-)
