Polar Night Crash Course: Lesson two

Lesson two: Keep a regular lifestyle: eat healthy, like fish as pictured above from local shop (I pass the liver, but you shouldn't - it's good for you).

Go to bed at the same time every night, get up at the same time in the morning.

Excercise.

I know, I sound like I'm ninety.

But keeping a steady pattern works, and I truly believe that it helps against Polar Night depression. Do not for all sake go to sleep in the middle of the day, you'll wake up not knowing if it's day or night. And your body will be even more confused than normally this time of year.

Only 58 days to sun is back. Yay!

(PS: You should check the comments in the last post for more vitamin tips!)

You don't sound 90 - just sensible!! Even with daylight here the nights seem long enough - dark when you go to work, dark when you come home.....I think the best bit of advice you gave is about not falling asleep during the day - that must be really disconcerting!

I like eating fresh fish, so this would be the best part of things to do for me! :o)

PS: I was glad to discover that you know Nice! The city changed a lot those last years, especially because we have now the tramway. The Avenue is now pedestrian! You should come back!

Thanks for sharing this. I can't imagine what Polar Night is, but I often thought to you people living in this part of the earth, and often asked how was it possible to feel good and alive during this dark time!

Good advice! And I don't think you sound like you're 90 either. You're being disciplined and prioritising.

Hei fra Skottland! I'm delighted to have discovered your blog - jeg elsker Norge! Will follow your arctic world with interest.
I did look at cod liver oil in the chemist today, but ended up buying vitamin D tablets instead, to offset the lack of winter sun in Scotland. We have Norwegian friends in their 80s who take cod liver oil every day.

Here in Wisconsin we are somewhat light-deprived and certainly warmth-deprived and it is so tempting to just hibernate but when the winters last 4-5 months that can get on your nerves. You are wise beyond your years! ;-)
