Northern lights delight

The northern lights season is here, and this faboulous dancing example of the kind was to bee seen from the veranda the other night. Not a very good picture, am afraid - I turned a bit too eager in the heat of the moment. Luckily I'm taking photo lessons this weekend, hopefully learning some camera tricks for the polar night to come.

When I was a child I used to lay in the snow and look up on the northern light. I never waved though. It could come an get me.

The light is so beautiful right now, and the sun struggles to stay awake just above the mountains. Still another 22 days before it's gone though.

Fun to play in the weekends! Très contente that the playground is not covered by snow yet.

It's my turn to decide the book in my bookcircle, and I can't choose between Mara Lee's Ladies and Vladimir Kadimer's Russian Disco.

The first is supposed to be an elegant novel about four women in the 30s, (something to relate to right there) written by a swedish poet turned novelist right above the chick lit level (according to critics) OR russian author writing about coming to Berlin in the beginning of the 1990s.

Hmm...this will be the Xmas read. Have a feeling it will be those shallow and glamorous ladies' task to entertain me. Or not.

The cold facts of life

Here we go again. As you can se here: Winter has arrived to our town, dressed as minus 2 degrees celcius. I have a bit of trouble welcoming this guest, as I'm still working on getting over Summer and Fall leaving me. But it's a matter of moving on, isn't it?

So, where do I find inspiration when the flowers diseappar?

1. Curling op on the sofa with a big cup of tea, candles, crisps and Mad Men, this fantastic series set in the beginning of the 60s in New York. They treated women like nothing back then, but had great dresses.

2. Reading blogs from places far, far away. Like Knitting Iris in Montana. A state on earth I have never visited, but feel mysteriously drawn to. Very mysteriously in fact, as it's almost as cold as here.

3. Planning for next summers' vacation. Always a trick. Will it be Croatia, Denmark or maybe France? Only the Internet knows.

It's like it's Christmas and it's not even the 15th of October. Luckily those winter tyres are on.

First sliding trip and great fun! Cocoa and chocolate at the pit stopp in the hill.
