Bringing Central Europe to the Arctic. And some vintage

My friend Teresa in London sent us Christmas gifts. It's always like a package from an uncle in America. (norwegian expression for something very excotic, far away in a place they sell things they don't have in Norway) She spoiles us rotten.

London shops have so many cool things, also for children. Like the Charlie& Lola suitcase and the wooden puzzle, and the rest is for mum.

I also received a gift from Kaylovesvintage. She has been so kind to bring central Europe to the Arctic by sending me the poster of the Edward Hopper exhibition she visited. Central Europe is definately an area I find myself in too rarely.

Now it's a bit closer, thanks!

I have been treasure hunting to a sell-out where, judging by the items, an old lady had lived. I had a ball, coming home with four vintage dresses, a small russian-looking chair for my girls, a knitted clothes hanger, two embroided pillows - one in an old traditional norwegian pattern, a big leather bag, a brush, a cake tin and a knitted sweather.

I also got hold of a long 60s cabinet that I've been looking for some time. Do not have space for it, oh well.

I don't know about you, but my hubby is medium to not very pleased about my finds. Most of it he thinks smells of mould. (And to be honest many of these things did, but one owns a washing machine)

I love vintage dresses, I have a thing for them. Aren't these from the sell-out ab fab?

The psychedelic one is very 60s, the one in the middle is in velvet fabric and more leisure 70s- Club Med- relaxing- by- the- pool-dress. Whereas the one to the right is just flowery cotton 70s summer dress.

There is one bummer: The old lady must have been trés petite. I'm very, very far from trés petite, so I don't really know what to do about them. Have joined vintage swap so that's a possibility.

Any other suggestions?

I have donated to Haiti, and I hope you have too.

I saw the note you left for me... you might find the www.nordicneedle.com website of interest... It is a needlework shop in Fargo, ND where I used to live and they design a lot of hardanger patterns and carry every supply imaginable!

Here brightening up a grey, rainy morning in London with your fab blog (you gave my Christmas gifts a v nice mention!:-)) & a classic 70s kids DVD: Rosie's Walk. The animation is Czech & wonderfully retro with burnt orange, mustard yellow, olive green... Both Maia and her mum are happy - always the best way... ;-) Lovely dresses!!
