I have plans to lower my Christmas ambitions this year too. Just enjoy the light while it's there, the view and the candles. Oh well, ask me in two weeks time how those plans are going..How's your December?

I was born in Mozambique, lived in Portugal, and for the 7 last years I've been living in Paris. It's minus 8 here. Visiting your blog makes me feel that I live in Jamaica or something. Thanks for your vision of the (could) world. You have one of the coziest blogues I visited so far.
I'm also ambitious about not being ambitious this christmas :)
must be soo strange being dark all the time, we have snow here in the UK. Though the UK can't cope with a few inches of snow and everything comes to a stand still. :)
i already have problems to baer (baer?) winter light in south of france, what would you i think about december in your country?:-)
december (as november) is a 'too long' month. we are going to install a xmas tree tomorrow and some pretty lights, it helps to wait for longest days.
are you born in your region? did you live there as a child?
I always think of you this time of year, but especially today as I watch the Joanna Lumley special as she searches for the northern lights in Tromso.

We haven't had a bit of snow, which is *very* unusual for us. Miss it so, and it makes me feel like it is October, not about December. So, I'm behind on gift making which is a wonderful excuse to simplify, enjoy our time at home being crafty at our own pace, and staying in for reading, knitting, baking and snuggling.
it feels like we live in an Arctic World here too ;)

We are having a deluge of rain rain and more rain....you know I would rather it be snow and darkness any day.
Zelapin - yes, I was born and raised in the region, flew around a bit (UK, France, traveling), then landed back here. Every April Arctid Dad wants to move further south, but I manage to persuade him every year (he's from the West of Norway).
As for Paris, I have never been so cold as when I visited in February once..freezing! But I love love the city.
December is quite normal month for me, so really not much plans apart from dinner with friends, and going out till late, work lunch, family christmas lunch and dinner...well will have to plan more exercise just to equilibrate all the dinners and lunches will have ;)
Our family is working hard at school and work, and we are counting the days until we can have a break. We've just put up some "winter lights" in the house (fairy lights) and it's so nice to have an extra boost of light - as well as candles - in the darkness. There's lots of snow in Scotland at the moment, so it feels pretty Christmassy.
So beautiful, even if the light is so brief. I'm also very affected by the darkness of winter, and we have far more hours of light than you, so I have no excuse.
Advent also sneaks up on us--we celebrate Thanksgiving--as you may know, a major national holiday--just days before and I'm never quite prepared...
I love your photos. It looks cozy, if not too light. Have done nothing for Christmas, yet... it's coming too quickly!
