How To Populate The Arctic

Someone has to make sure there are people living in our world's most challenging areas - these cold, harsh environments where winter resides three quarter of the year etc.

This someone seems to be me: I will add another little person to the Arctic in July. A brand new one!

I've heard rumours that it is possible to have three children under six and stay sane...I'll be grateful for any advice in that department.

Six days to Return of The Sun Day! And we're planning a great escape to someplace warm in April. The Canaries? (picture from 2nd daughter's nap below dried cod a couple of years ago)

What wonderful news Mali. If anyone can do it you can!!!!

Congratulations.

(ps I told my daughter about the reindeer dinner and the whale entree. She was ok about the reindeer when I explained it was like our kangaroos but she got very upset about the whale!)

Så flott, gratulerer! :-)

God helg.

hello arctic mum!
i haven't been by for some time, but pretty delighted to be here today to catch your wonderful news ~ congratulations!!
my three sons are adults now (well, by age ; ) ...
in reflection, i would say to get as much rest as you possibly can, as often as you can so you have energy ... and to get the older ones to help you with chores so they feel helpful and learn responsibility ~ the littlest feat can make them feel so good. developing this will really help you down the road when everyone pitches in ... : )
shower them with love, the basic needs, great music, reading and the great outdoors where you live ... oh, and remember to breathe ... ; )
you will be just fine ~ enjoy enjoy this time!
best wishes ~

sorry to go on and on ~ can you tell i am a fresh empty nester?

Congratulations!! I 'only' have two under 7, so no advice here! My friend just had her 4th and she said she was tired but very relaxed about it all. Wishing you the same!

I know you moved, but I just had to ask--does anyone dare to hang bacalao to dry on an apartment balcony? Or not? Just curious and I hope that's not too silly a question!

Best wishes to you.

Congrats again, I hope you are fine and will find your dreamhouse before the new person arrives. I have a little baby sleeping on my chest right now - it sure is cosy! Let`s just hope he will sleep tonight ...
PS: Your trip on the spa boat seemed wonderful!

Congratulations! How exciting.

I met someone the other day whose daughter is about to produce their 3rd child too -she currently has a 16 month old, a 5 month old and in 6 months will have a new baby......that will be 3 children under the age of 2!!!! Don't ask - there were a few happy accidents going on!

Congratulations! That's very happy news. I know three mothers-of-four, and they have all said that the third and fourth tend to look after the younger ones so it isn't actually 3 (or 4) times the work. My mother-in-law's third child was triplets and so she suddenly had five children under the age of five - so it could be worse! Enjoy, and take care.

Thankyou for all your comments! Nancy - not a silly question, there are (some) people hanging cod on the veranda, but in danger of crows and jumping cats! These hang under the boathouse at my grandmother's house. Di - oh, my, sounds like an eternal pregnancy, and a bit too much...

I have 3 under 5 (a 5 year old and a set of 1 year old twins...with another on the way.) I too live in the Arctic...albeit the Canadian Arctic - and it can be done. It requires a load of down quilts and snow suits, hot water bottles tucked in the stroller, and much acceptance on your part that you're just going to have to hunker down inside for the - 20 and below days. You just keep your standards low for what you're going to accomplish in a day...and honestly, the day goes by so much more peacefully. It's chaotic, but you'll miss it one day.
