24/7 Daylight Crash Course #2: Go to Bed, Goddammit!

When the sun shines at night it's hard to leave the sofa and brush those teeth. Almost impossible.

Last night I stayed up. And up. And up. Which is not so handy when my baby wakes up at 5 am. (on the other hand - I'm not the one who gets up since I work outside the home these days, lol!)

Creativity and energy rise when there is so much light. You just go on and on. Then you feel burned out - an American woman living here once said to me.

What you should do is find your bed in a reasonable time. I try to convince my daughters the same thing, but we tend to stay awake all of us no matter what.

It's like our bodies working against  us: The mind wants to sleep. The body refuses.

Have a great weekend!

I know what you mean! And i´s weird. Because I have lived up north more or less all my life. Yet I still struggle with this getting-to-bed-in-the-summer-thing every year! And it´s just like you say. My mind tells me to go to bed at a reasonable hour. I keep deciding to! Yet, my behind is more or less glued to the couch when night falls. So much to do! Let me know if you find a good trick for convincing the body to listen to the mind...

Have a nice weekend, you too! :-)

I remember that so well from growing up in Alaska. My mom would get so mad at me because I would not want to go to sleep. I would always say,"look the sun is still up."

This reminds me of when I was a child & had to go to bed in the summer & it was still day light ..... Very hard..... I still remember the frustration!

Maybe you should postpone your daily activities? Breakfast at lunch time and so on?

I know. Tomorrow morning the boys have to be up early for school, but will I be able to get them to bed before midnigt? Some people have dark curtains to keep the sun out in the evening, but after a long dark winter, I really don't want to shut it out.

I think it will happen to me the same...imposible to go bed when there is so much light, and so much one could do...
